What is The Rhyme Game?
The Rhyme Game is a freestyle rap training app. You pick a beat, and rhyme words appear in time with the music while a bouncing ball marks each beat. You rap along, landing each rhyme on the beat. It's built to take someone who has never freestyled to rapping on a beat in minutes, and to keep challenging people who already can. See how it works.
Is The Rhyme Game free?
Yes, it's free to download and play, with a set of free beats and word lists. Rhyme Game Unlimited is an optional subscription that unlocks the full beat library, every word list and every rhyme pattern, and it starts with a 7-day free trial.
What devices can I play on?
iPhone and iPad from the App Store, Android phones and tablets from Google Play, and computers through the browser version at play.therhymegame.com. The browser version is built for desktop. On a phone, use the app.
Do I need any rapping experience?
No. The first time you open the app, a short tutorial walks you through the grid, the ball and the rhymes, then drops you into a real game. Start on All Words with an AABB scheme and the game hands you every rhyme; you only need to fill the gaps.
Does the app record or score my voice?
No. The Rhyme Game doesn't listen to, record or grade your rapping. It gives you prompts timed to the music, and you rap along out loud. You can play anywhere without worrying about what the microphone picks up.
Is The Rhyme Game OK for kids and classrooms?
The app is rated 12+ on the App Store. For younger players or classroom use, turn on Settings → Content Filter, which hides profanity, sexual content, toilet humor and single letters from the word lists. Rhyming on a beat is a great way to build vocabulary, rhythm and confidence speaking out loud.
What do AABB, ABAB and AAAA mean?
They're rhyme schemes: which lines rhyme with which. In AABB, lines 1 and 2 rhyme, then 3 and 4. In ABAB, lines 1 and 3 rhyme, and 2 and 4. In AAAA, all four lines share one rhyme. Rhyme schemes explained goes deeper.
How do I make the game harder?
Change the fill mode. All Words shows every rhyme; First Only makes you find the rhyme; Last Only makes you set up a punchline; No Words is pure freestyle. Then move from AABB to AAAA, which needs four rhymes for the same sound.
Why is the bouncing ball out of sync with the beat?
Audio delay differs between devices and headphones, and Bluetooth adds the most. Open Settings → Correct Audio Lag / Ball Sync to calibrate the timing for your setup.
How do streaks work?
Rap at least 8 bars in a day and that day counts. Play on consecutive days to grow your streak. Your current streak, longest streak and a 28-day calendar are in Stats.
Can I rap along to other music?
Yes. Tap Mode lets you rap along to any music you hear, like the radio in your car, a song playing in public or a friend's beat. Tap along to its rhythm (or type in a BPM) and the game plays along with it.
How do I restore my subscription on a new phone?
Open Settings (the gear icon on the home screen) and tap Restore Purchases, signed in to the same App Store or Google Play account you subscribed with.
